The mission of this foundation

Build a partnership with the people of Haiti—a people in crisis,
who are today’s environmental refugees — empowering them
to prepare for and live through the crises of climate change
(i.e. global warming) in the 21st century, by means of
environmental protection and energy renewal, establishing
well-being, abundance and peace for every Haitian citizen
living in its ten departments (states).

Basic Mission Principles

1 . Global warming is a man-made, scientific reality and has already affected and
will affect every person, city and village on the planet within a brief time span in the
21st Century. Recognizing that the poorest people on the planet will be the first
affected by global warming, it is the responsibility of every world citizen to create
as small an ecological footprint as possible and to provide assistance to those
who are becoming or who have already become environmental refugees
throughout the world. A global network of compassionate governments, institutions,
private and public corporations as well as every citizen on the planet is required to
meet this global challenge

2. Haiti’s population is facing the dual crises of environmental degradation and
intense poverty. The two problems are intertwined and have a systemic relationship
increasing Haiti’s vulnerability to global warming. Focusing on one while ignoring
the other is what Haitians would call “Lave men swiye yo ate” or washing your hands
and wiping them in the dirt.

3. Real change develops when communities of concern collaborate. The combination
of several non-profit agencies (ie. NGOs) along with groups of motivated poor people
must work together in a network of shared responsibility. The people’s voice is
paramount and decisions should be made first by the affected people with any
coalition of environmental/development agencies ready to listen, respond and assist.
Otherwise, collaboration is fruitless and large scale or nation-wide action cannot be
achieved. All action must be local, democratic and grassroots with specific territory
outlined so as to impact all of the people in all of the affected areas or districts.
